About me and this blog

I am French, but have been living in London for over 10 years now. I still can’t believe it. I remember my first day so well. It was a sunny summer’s Sunday and it involved climbing through the window into the flat. It was not a good start; but that will be a story for another time!

I work in marketing and have done so for the last 15 years. As many people this year, I was made redundant following a Covid related restructure at the company I was working for. I've realised that to keep positive I need to be busy and challenge my brain. Here are some of the things I do regularly:

- Learning Italian. I studied Italian a while ago and still have an ear for it, so I am on Duolingo every day now.

- Google Digital Garage course. I've learned a lot about digital marketing by doing on the job, but figured it would be good to formalise some of that and pick-up new things too.

- A bit of DIY and trying different crafts.

The latter brings me to my decision to start blogging. It makes sense, but everything I see on Pinterest or Instagram is from people who have great passion and ability for their chosen hobby and display it to the world. Often they are also able to monetise on it. And I love that, however; I myself do not have such talent or passion. I am interested in lots of things, but don’t have that one single minded passion that I could dedicate a whole Instagram account to, an Etsy store or a blog 😊.

Sure I enjoy knitting, but mostly scarves (they are straight, you don’t need to worry about decreasing or increasing, and no assembly is required). I’ve recently tried my hand at macramé, and I’m not too bad – but a quick search on Etsy will show you that everyone else is too!

So instead I will dedicate this blog to my personal musings and discovery of new things to try. And I’ll include pictures of my attempts (the good and the bad) as well as links to resources I used. So you can also discover a new hobby, passion, or just a project to keep you busy for a bit.
